Award winning composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Justin Melland, primarily works in the demanding world of film, creating refreshingly inventive scores that are fully integrated into the larger world of each project.  Justin has become very well known for his highly effective and original process of combining orchestra, found sound, extended techniques, electronics, and tradition into a sound environment that is incredibly emotional, exciting, and above all, totally unique for each film.

When developing the sound world for a new picture, time stops in the studio and the obsessive process of mining for new ideas continues tirelessly until magic happens.  It is this unexpected blend of traditional orchestra, unique, sometimes homemade instruments, vintage synthesizers, guitars, and above all else, melody, that drives Justin to search in very unexpected ways to find the perfect sound for a film.

Films that house scores by Justin have been nominated for Oscars®, premiered and won top honors at Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca and many other prestiguous festivals.  Justin relishes his relationships with filmmakers and has many that have lasted through time and highly varied film projects.  Forging relationships with film creators is a very exciting time, as this meeting of the minds most often creates a special chemistry that results in a unique and beautiful music score that maximizes the potential of every film that passes through the studio.
